Welcome to The Tuna Melt Music Sharity Blog!

It is here that I post old records that I've ripped
to Mp3 format (and grouped in .ZIP files) via File Sharing Sites,
album cover scans and, sometimes,
somewhat coherent ramblings related to said shares.

Most of the items shared are rips of Out-of-Print
(or, at least, very difficult to acquire)
Vinyl Records from my own collection,
or Compilations ("Seasonal" or "Genre-Specific") made up of Mp3 files
either digitally collected or ripped from Compact Disk.

Come on in. Look around.
Scroll downward to find available links.
I hope you find something you like.

If you don't,
you can always come back later, as the variety
of what is made available should be pretty wide-ranging.

Tex Johnson and His Six Shooters: Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

Stick 'em Up, Earth Pardners!

Okay, boys and girls. Get ready for some Rootin', Tootin' Holiday Cheer of the Country & Western variety. This record, as a matter of fact, contains several songs that have not a darn thing to do with Christmas or Holidays at all. It remains, however, a sentimental favorite for many of the American Baby Boomer Generation.

For an album released by such an obscure group/artist, there is an amazing amount of discussion concerning this one out there in Cyberville. There's not much actual information available, but there's a great deal of discussion. Just do a search on "Tex Johnson & His Six Shooters" and you'll find out everything that anybody knows about it.
I have tagged the Christmas songs as being such (in the Genre tag category), and tagged the non-Holiday material as Country & Western, in order to assist in keeping them separate.

  1. Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
  2. When Santa Claus Gets Your Letter
  3. Fum Fum Fum
  4. Wait for the Wagon (On Christmas Day)
  5. I Heard the Bells on Christmas Day
  6. Cheyenne
  7. A Merry Merry Christmas to You
  8. Pride of the Prairie Mary
  9. The Night Before Christmas Song
  10. San Antonio
  11. Just as the Sun Went Down
  12. Go Tell It on the Mountain

Excellent Presentation! Thanks for sharing.

Y'know… Years ago there was a video posted to YouTube that actually showed Tex & His Six Shooters performing on Television. It's since been removed, though, for copyright violation. Shame, really…

I believe I used to have this record when I was young. There are a couple of songs on here that I have been trying to find for years. Thanks so much. It truly is a great christmas album.

We used to spend every christmas eve night as a family at my grandma's. Grandpa would get the tree and we would decorate it listening to this album(mainly side one) and The Chipmunks Sing the Beatles alternating over and over.
Since we spent the night at grandma's, that is where Santa would come so these so these songs are Christmas in my psyche.
After Grandpa died the record was taken by a relative to record it on tape and has never returned. That was 16 years ago. I missed it so much I would look at every antique store for it. Christmas just wasn't the same without it.
Three years ago as we were opening presents I started unwrapping this pizza box shaped gift from my sister and just had this feeling that it was the "Rudolph" album. It brought tears to my eyes when I got it opened all the way. She had a friend who found it on E-bay. I made cd's for my family from it and make my wife sick of it by overplaying it every Christmas now, but it always gives me goosebumps.
Does everyone else consider Cheyenne to be a Christmas song even thought it has nothing to do with Christmas? I just found out that it was a tv theme song! Well its still a Christmas song to me!

I have another album of his called "songs for little cowboys". It also has a record label of "twinkle" a product of premier albums, inc. TW-14. It has 12 songs on it

Very Cool!

I'm so glad that this "Innernet Thingy" allows those of us with little bits of info and knowledge to come together and share what we know.

Henceforth I will concentrate even harder on locating "Tex Johnson & His Six Shooters" records at the local Thrift Stores.

I agree with other anonymous folks. This album is burned into my head. I have made it part of my two daughters christmas tradition as well. The best songs on here are probably not the christmas songs (except for fum, fum, fum and Wait for the Wagon and when Santa Claus Gets Your Letter and Go Tell it on The Mountain and...)but they all mean christmas to me.

Tex Johnson's Christmas music is the best! I've had the record for years and am probably the only guy in town with this stuff on his iPod

Ha!

Glad to hear this record is so loved and cared for!

My lovely wife has said that it was her favorite Christmas record when she was a child (I think it may remain so) and she has no time for any other version of "Fum, Fum, Fum" to this very day.

I have been looking for this album for YEARS. I am actually in tears listening to it. THANK YOU THANK YOU. You just gave me back a lost piece of my childhood!

Growing up, this was the favorite Christmas album of my Mom and her sisters. Every year, as Christmas-time came once again, it would get played.
So when I found the album here, I was able to give them all a very special Christmas gift.
Thank you

I also have the Songs for Little Cowboys album. Got it in early '64, when my sisters got Meet The Beatles.

Here’s a link where you can download a freshly digitized and slightly de-clicked version of this long lost gem of an album! This one is originally mono but sounds good thanks to a good preamp. Merry Christmas to all!
