Welcome to The Tuna Melt Music Sharity Blog!

It is here that I post old records that I've ripped
to Mp3 format (and grouped in .ZIP files) via rapidshare,
album cover scans and, sometimes,
somewhat coherent ramblings related to said shares.

None of the shares here are "borrowed" from other blogs.
All of the items shared are rips of Out-of-Print
(or, at least, very difficult to get)
Vinyl Records from my own collection.

Come on in. Look around.
Scroll downward to find available links.
I hope you find something you like.

If you don't,
you can always come back later, as the variety
of what is made available should be pretty wide-ranging.

Ferrante & Teicher: Snowbound / Various Artists: Yulesville!

Double the Holiday Excitement!!!

Hey! Looka Me! I've got TWO THINGS on my DESKTOP!!! They Point Upward! They're Rounded! This is Cool!!!

Two is Always Better Than One!!! Right!?! Like… Two Dollars is Twice as Good as One Dollar. And Two Broken Knees is… Wait… Okay. But… DOUBLE INDEMNITY means… You Got Your Ass Kicked TWICE!?!

This isn't going quite as well as I'd planned.

I say… Who Cares! We can MAKE TWO BETTER THAN ONE here at the ol' Tuna Melt!

For instance…

I'm going to post this record even though it has been posted by others before! This is a rip at 320kbps from a pretty good piece of wax. And it's a record by one of my favorite Piano Duos, Ferrante & Teicher!

Some may argue that it's not really a Christmas Record, but a Winter Record. They are allowed to do so and, while I will not agree with them, I will not disagree with them.

Here it is!

Ferrante & Teicher: Snowbound
  1. Snowbound
  2. Let it Snow! Let it Snow! Let it Snow!
  3. Sleighride
  4. Moonlight in Vermont
  5. Skaters Waltz
  6. Jingle Bells
  7. I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm
  8. Winter Wonderland
  9. Brazilian Sleigh Bells
  10. Moonlight Serenade
  11. June in January
  12. Happy Sleigh Ride
Next up is a Promotional Disc from Warner Brother's from 1987. This was a point at which the record industry was simply grasping at whatever might possibly help it to keep making the billions of dollars it needed to keep making in order to continue being… The Record Industry? Yep. That was it.

It contains a few good songs (all of which have since been released on CD) and a few HORRIBLE songs (which will, hopefully, NEVER be released on CD) and several Spoken Word Holiday Messages from The Stars of 1987. You know… People like Ice-T, Madonna, Joey Ramone, George Harrison and Brian Wilson. And Really Cool People like 54.40, Sherrick and Siedah Garrett (whoever the hell they are/were?).

It has some cool stuff on it, though, and may come in handy to those of you who create Holiday Mixes.

Various Artists: Yulesville! Part 1
  1. Musical Intro (Jingle Bells) - Uncredited Artist
  2. Yulesville - Edd 'Kookie' Byrnes

I've added you to Various/Eclectic category on my blogroll @ http://music-bloggers.blogspot.com as you requested. It's not necessary, but if you would like to link back to the blogroll I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks and keep up the great work.

Thanks for Yulesville! I've been looking for a copy for quite a while. I have copies of "Winter Warnerland," the followup to Yulesville and "Adventures In Carols" by Ferrante & Teicher if you need them. Since you enjoyed "Christmas In November" so much, I've added more "cheery" Christmas songs from the Vietnam War era. Enjoy!

Snowbound is a great record, at least what I can hear so far. Makes me nostalgic for a past that I never really had. But sadly track 3, "Sleighride" is unlistenable. I keep getting a "CRC failed in 03 Sleighride.mp3 -- The file is corrupt" error. If there is any chance you could re-up just that one tune or the entire album, if that's easier, I would immensely appreciate it. Thanks.

Ooooooh! Thanks for the Heads-up, Anon. I guess the file may have become corrupt during its upload. I'm in a bit of a rush at the moment (on my way to a Holiday Soirée!) but am tossing the original Mp3 up to Rapidshare even as I type. I'll stick a link back up on the post in just a moment (and check more deeply into this problem later on this evening).

Thanks!

Thanks very much for your help. In the interim I tried the original RS link again and that seemed to solve the problem. I've since bought a couple of CD's by the same duo which have wonderfully cheezey covers. They both look a bit like Steve Allen. I've always been aware of F & T peripherally and via the Ultra-Lounge series, but SNOWBOUND really turned me on to them. So once again, thank you very much.

Always happy to spread the joy that is Ferrante & Teicher! If you haven't already, get over to Space Age Pop and check out their biography (http://www.spaceagepop.com/ferrante.htm). Pay extra special attention to the two different categories into which their music fall. The Prepared Piano Works (pre-1961 recordings) are really fascinating.

Thanks for posting this classic promo. Do you have a copy of Winter Warnerland on CD? It has a few bonus tracks not found on the record rip that has been posted.
Cheers,

Yep! Bought it back when it came out, as a matter of fact (I have a bit of a Christmas Music Fetish, I suppose...). It is a great disc.
